Why Songwriting ...

at first i wrote the song for myself. I dont keep a diary so i put it into a song. Usually a song was invented whenever i had a big moment, an epic journey, or life questioning experience. You see, i am a forgetful person, so this is like a one medium for me to document wht had happened.
i am otam. My parent call me otam.

I am 28
My full name is Ahmad Rostam Bin Abdul Rashid. Currently I am living with my parent. I was raised in SS 7 Kelana Jaya. My dad works so hard that he manage to score me a chance to go Canada. I got a tourism management diploma and work after. In total, i spend 6 years over there. Finished a diploma after 3 year, didnt care to get a degree (my dad got pist off). It was all my fault.

I learn about the music thing from the "house behind karma"

This was in Calgary, Canada. It all started after i had enough of being homeless for quite a time, like 2 months. i was trying to prove something... but not sure how to describe this. I was living on my bicycle, i sleep in a tent, and travel from town to town. Then i got tired, so i was looking a place to stay. I hung out on the street and met Greg Saga, busking on the sreet with his guitar. He was actually a Jazz Student. I told him i am looking for a place to stay. I know how to play simple chords, but then the more people i met the more stuff i learnt. I started to develop an interest and pick up a little bit of Jazz from Greg.

It was a town house. We cal it the "the house behind karma" because geographically it was located at the back of a live music venue called Karma cafe. There was three other people living in the house: Mony Hunsicker, Virginia Crough and Jason Novak. They were all musicians. People came in and out of this place to hear jamming sessions or to play music. The house was a popular spot for a minor group of indie culture in the city. I felt in love with playing music even further when living in this place.

*my definition of "indie" is - anything tht is original or organic

***I love this lifestyle!***

After almost six years living in Canada, my parent got really worried. Before going back home, i did intense research on the internet and i found Hujan, Yuna, Rantai Art, Layar Tanchap, Doppelgangerkl and Moonshine. God bless the internet, i got really excited going back home now TO LEARN MORE about the local art community
